Updated: Jun 30, 2021

Hi Team Fit,

It's so important to get moving every single day. This year we had a cold and long winter, and maybe you didn't have the opportunity to get outside and work out. Or perhaps with everything happening in the world, you just didn't feel like it. I sure know I've had those days, and that's where we come in. At Salsa City Fitness, Troy, Ohio, we are a fit fam. When you join in, you sign up not just for classes but for a support system that stands by you even on the more challenging days, encouraging you to be the best you.

We focus on helping you feel recharged by taking the work out of the workout and making it fun. Our classes help you sweat out the stress.

Our dedicated team of instructors are here to empower you by helping you strengthen your core, build lean muscles, and reach your fitness goals. Join us for your preferred classes ANY DAY, ALL WEEK.

(We even have some classes on the weekends)

We love our fit fam. When you accomplish your goals, we meet ours, so sign up now and start your journey to a better you.

We are always trying to make fitness more fun by including unique classes and routines in our schedules. We offer an assortment of classes from Aeriel Yoga to Zumba. Grab a friend and pop in for a quick sweat sesh.

Have you tried Barre?

Barre utilizes a ballet barre and fuzes movement of Dance, strengthening of Pilates, and stretching of Yoga get long, lean, toned muscles and perk up the hardest to work areas.

From novices to models and celebrities, you'll find everyone interested in Barre.

We have students of just about any age in there, from former bikini competitors and physical therapists to 70-year-old seniors who want to stay fit.

We believe in encouraging all our students to do what they can and take a quick break whenever they need to.

We love listening to your success stories. Knowing you notice changes in your body, not just in appearance but in joint support and reduction of chronic pain, fuels us to serve you better.

Barre focuses on working smaller muscle groups that get left by the wayside with many larger gross motor movements. As the body ages and gravity takes its toll, all muscles don't always keep firing as strongly or correctly.

Barre fitness is a bit like physical therapy uses small weights and multiple reps to wake each muscle and engage them as a unit, working together to move the joint in a smooth range of motion. Many times pain within the body comes from misalignment.

This conditioning class gives the skeletal system the support it needs to strengthen and stretch uniformly. The body can create a more structurally sound foundation, thus affording improved posture and injury prevention.

Liza, the owner of Salsa City Fitness, teaches this class and loves its effects on her body. She is a licensed medical massage therapist and suggests this class to all of her clients.

At first, the class can seem different, and the body takes a while to adjust to these movements but doing this class in a group makes it easier and more engaging than doing it on your own.

Saturday morning at 8 a.m.,

Monday night at 5 p.m.,

Wednesday night at 6 p.m.

What to wear to Barre

One of the joys of joining a new class is choosing clothes and gear to accompany it. Barre is best performed in fitted clothing such as leggings and tanks. This allows the instructor to correct your form to get maximum benefit while preventing injury.

Made of soft, stretchy, and absorbent fabric decorated with foiled gold lettering and a red pout, this tee will glam your workout.

Stay Hydrated

Summers come with sweltering heat, and it's easy to forget to drink enough water. When dehydrated, your mind and body cannot function at their best. You may feel more fatigued than usual, or you may notice decreased performance.

The simple solution is to drink enough fluids during hotter months, especially when you exercise. Make fluid replacement a priority when you're physically active.

Stay hydrated in style with this Skinny Tumbler from Salsa City.

For a quick guide to eating right before Barre, find tips below.

If you're joining us for Barre on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m., try not to work out on an empty stomach. Eat a handful of nuts or a banana to keep you fuelled through the class.

If you prefer the evening classes and join us on Monday at 5 p.m.,

Or Wednesday at 6 p.m., it is important to ensure you eat a well-rounded lunch and a healthy snack before your workout. Try to exclude refined carbohydrates from your meals or any ingredients that cause spikes in blood sugar. Instead, choose to use complex carbohydrates such as sweet potato, brown rice, or quinoa as your snack. Egg whites, grilled chicken, or healthy fats like avocado and coconut are a good source of long-lasting energy.

Eating well before your workout will minimize hunger pangs and cravings post-workout.

If you are a member, you will find several recipes under the Nutrition Page once you log in on the salsa city website.
